The American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation understands how valuable privacy is to our patrons and site visitors.

This privacy policy explains how information is collected through engagement interactions with organizations and individuals during the normal course of business, how organizations use personal information, and how you can make your privacy preferences known.

This policy represents the privacy policy as stated online (https://americanmotorcyclist.com/privacy-policy) and in paper form.

This privacy policy applies to the following AMA sites and related domain extensions (.com, .net, .org, and .tv):

Policy and Procedures

Organizations collect information from customers when registering through online services, placing an order, subscribing to newsletters and services, making donations or joining, or completing and submitting web forms.

Organizations require all their employees and contractors to respect users’ privacy and protect personally identifiable information regardless of the form and system in which it is kept.

Accessing Content

Users can access Organization sites and browse all content, without disclosing personal information.

When ordering, signing up, or registering, as appropriate, information is requested such as name, email address, mailing address, phone number, birth date, gender, riding preferences, and credit card information. Users should not be encouraged to submit sensitive, personally identifiable information, such as social security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, or medical information through online forms or in user profiles used in conjunction with Organization-provided services.

Generic, internet-user information may also be obtained by, but not limited to, the following methods:
  • Internet protocol address of the individual computer (or proxy server) making the request
    Type of internet browser or computer operating system being used
    Date and time of website access
    Web pages visited on Organization sites
    Internet address of the website visited before Organization’s site
Information collected by Organization may be used in any of the following ways, during its course of business:
  • To personalize the user’s experience
    To help better respond to individual user needs
    To improve Organization’s sites and systems
    To improve customer service
    To process transactions and orders
    To administer a contest, promotion, survey, or other online feature
    To send periodic emails regarding benefits or products of the AMA, such as AMA-sanctioned competition events, Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum, and AMA-endorsed programs
    To share or sell information with third parties for marketing or other purposes with and without consent
    To comply with any and all laws
    To collect and share information in collaboration with Organization partners and promoters whereby the advancement of the Organization’s mission may provide impact

Use of Personal Information

Organizations have implemented a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of personal information such as but not limited to:
  • Usage of secure servers and authentication gateways
  • All supplied sensitive/credit card information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL), HTTPS encryption, and firewall technology and then encrypted through payment gateway providers only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and who are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, Organizations maintain a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) certification.
  • After a transaction, private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) are not stored on Organization-owned servers.
  • Personal information will be retained for as long as Organizations need it to provide services to users, and/or as long as may be legally required by IRS regulations. Users may request the deletion of personal information from Organization services, with the realization that personal information may be retained, in order to comply with the law, protect rights, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
  • Information submitted or shared through online services and communications may be transferred to countries other than where a user lives, such as servers located in the United States of America. Organization sites are in the United States, and Organization collects, stores, and processes personal information in the United States. The United States may not offer a level of privacy protection for a user’s personal information as great as is offered in the country in which a user lives.
  • Cookies are small files that a site or service provider transfers to a computer’s hard drive through a web browser (if the user allows) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize browser activity, capture and share specific information between systems, record votes for online polls, and track membership sales from affiliates.
  • Among use cases included in Organization systems, cookies are used to remember and process identity and account status information between systems, keep information secure, and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions so that the user experience continues to improve and keep pace with evolving technologies and user experiences.

It is understood that users have their own ability (client-side) to disable or be notified about cookie utilization and that turning cookie usage off will cause some online services to not function properly or as expected. Doing so, however, will prohibit users from accessing certain features of the sites, including content in the Members-only Area.

Communication and Opting Out

Organization do not send unsolicited e-mails. If you have elected to receive one an e-mail newsletter and do not wish to continue receiving it, simply unsubscribe using the instructions provided in the e-mail.

Future Changes and Definitions

From time to time, Organizations may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in this privacy policy.

If Organization information practices change in the future, this privacy policy will be updated.Browser. A program that allows a user to find, view, hear, and interact with material on the World Wide Web. Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Microsoft Edge are examples of popular browsers.

Cookies. Small text files that sites place in a user’s computer to help the browser remember specific information. The Hall of Fame’s sites use cookies to record whether the users have voted in any online polls and to verify that a user is signed into the members-only area.

IP Address. A unique number that specifically identifies each individual computer or device connected to the Internet. Depending on how the device is connected to the internet, it can either be a fixed set of numbers, or it can change each time it connects to a network or internet service provider.

SSL. Secured Sockets Layer is a protocol that transmits user communications over the internet in an encrypted form. SSL ensures that the information is sent, unchanged, only to the server the user intended to send it to.
